External Data Sharing

We support external COVID-related data sharing collaborations to ensure efforts align with our mission and commitment to contribute to critical COVID response efforts, while upholding our responsibility as stewards of MGB data.

Our Accomplishments

We created a new pathway that augments and leverages existing data sharing infrastructure, processes, and governance. Many of these requests require us to broaden our perspective in new ways given the impact of the unprecedented situation. We must ensure these efforts align with our mission and commitment to contribute to critical COVID response efforts, while upholding our responsibility as stewards of MGB data that are consistent with institutional policies and strategy.

The EDS team has built out a new sourcing channel through its EDS intake form, and has dedicated resources to expedite review of requests, where possible. Working with a newly established EDS leadership team – a group of key stakeholders and experts from across the enterprise – relevant use cases and opportunities are reviewed on a bi-weekly cadence to solicit input and strategic recommendations prior to review with our existing governance committees. Since March 2020, our group has reviewed ~10 COVID-related requests which fall outside our current data sharing guidelines.

Data/Tissue Sharing Intake Form

We recently launched an intake portal for all collaborators wishing to requests data and/or tissue resources via the External Data Sharing group. If you are interested in requesting resources, please complete our intake form.
